
RWS SPOTLIGHT FEATURE: Introduced in 2003 (in POSIM 7.8), POSIM's Customer Reward program is a terrific feature. If you are not using it now, we strongly encourage you to consider implementing it in 2005.
The Customer Reward feature gives you the tools to reward your most loyal customers...the same type of tools that major companies like department stores, hotels, and airlines use to reward their best customers and frequent flyers. The customer reward concept has helped many businesses affect their customers spending habits, encouraging them to purchase their products and services more frequently from them (and not from a competitor).
POSIM's Customer Reward function allows you to determine which products are part of this program; how many points are awarded to your different items; and which customers qualify to participate.
Following is a recap of how to enable the Customer Reward function in POSIM.
1. Set up your Reward Group levels: SalesPoint> Misc > Customer Reward Groups (in this example, Platinum, Gold, and Silver):

2. Assign customers to a reward group: SalesPoint > Window > Customer > Reward Group field:

3. Enable the Customer Reward User Control: SalesPoint > File > Shared User Controls > Rewards:
In this screen you not only 'turn on' the customer reward function, you can also tell POSIM to print the reward balance on invoices. You can also set up a default Customer Reward Group, and also a default Item Reward Code. Finally, you can also choose to set up a specific point level at which POSIM announces a special Reward Level has been reached.
1. Create the Product Reward Codes, and identify the points that will be given for each qualifying purchase for each Customer Reward Group: InventoryAnalyzer > Window > Reward Codes:

2. Assign the appropriate Reward Code to each Item: InventoryAnalyzer > Window > Item > Reward Code field:

That's it...POSIM's Customer Reward program will now start assigning reward points based on the parameters that you identified.
It is up to you how you want to reward your customers. Some POSIM retailers give discounts (using POSIM's Discount Level function) to all customers who have attained a certain number of points; some other POSIM retailers give gifts to those customers; and other POSIM retailers have found ccreative ways to reward their most loyal customers that don't 'give away the store'...like qualifying for free gift wrap on gift purchases; or having a special checkout area with no waiting; or receiving invitations to special events at the store.
